Four Elwood-John H. Glenn High School senior athletes recently signed national letters of intent to continue their sports careers at the NCAA collegiate level next fall. Athletic Director Dave Shanahan hosted a College Signing Day ceremony on Nov. 20 in the school’s gymnasium, with the students’ proud families in attendance.
Evan Creter will attend SUNY Binghamton for swimming, Ethan Levy will attend SUNY Geneseo for lacrosse, Joey Mammolito will attend SUNY Farmingdale for basketball and Matthew Triolo will attend the University of Delaware for lacrosse.
“Parents, grandparents, family members, administrators, teachers, friends and student athletes, thank you for attending our signing ceremony,” Athletic Director Dave Shanahan said. “Whether you be playing NCAA Division I, Division II or Division III athletics, it’s a major accomplishment to say that you will be playing at the college level. We are here to recognize our student athletes for their years of hard work and determination in both the classroom and their chosen sport.”
“Not many students have the opportunity to say they can go on to great colleges and continue with their athletic endeavors,” Superintendent Dr. Gayle Steele said. “So, we are extremely proud of you, and I know your families are proud of you. Continue to represent Elwood, but more importantly, represent yourselves and your families as well.”
“Congratulations on this great next chapter of your life,” Principal Corey McNamara told the seniors. “You have been great outstanding role models not only for other John Glenn students, but for younger siblings and relatives as well.”
